چکیده

Currently proposed tagging ontologies are mostly focused on the definition of a common schema for representing the agents involved in a tagging process. In this paper we describe preliminary research around the idea of extending tagging ontologies by incorporating some domain specific class definitions and relations. We illustrate our idea with a particular use case where a tag recommendation system is driven by such an ontology. Besides our use case, we believe that such extended tagging ontologies can bring more meaningful structure into folksonomies and improve browsing and organisation functionalities of online platforms relying on tagging systems.

Enriching Ontological User Profiles with Tagging History for Multi-Domain Recommendations

Many advanced recommendation frameworks employ ontologies of various complexities to model individuals and items, providing a mechanism for the expression of user interests and the representation of item attributes. As a result, complex matching techniques can be applied to support individuals in the discovery of items according to explicit and implicit user preferences. Recently, the rapid ado...

Ontologies: a Solution for the Learning

This paper presents an ontology model used for specifying a knowledge domain in the teaching/learning process and a proper methodology for the personalization of the didactic/training experience of single students basing on their didactic objectives and domains, their acquired knowledge and learning preferences. In our vision, it is important to preserve a specific ontology used in the definiti...

Building ontologies from folksonomies and linked data: Data structures and Algorithms

We present the data structures and algorithms used in the approach for building domain ontologies from folksonomies and linked data. In this approach we extracts domain terms from folksonomies and enrich them with semantic information from the Linked Open Data cloud. As a result, we obtain a domain ontology that combines the emergent knowledge of social tagging systems with formal knowledge fro...

Proposal for Evaluating Ontology Refinement Methods

Abstract Ontologies are a tool for Knowledge Representation that is now widely used, but the effort employed to build an ontology is still high. There are a few automatic and semi-automatic methods for extending ontologies with domain-specific information, but they use different training and test data, and different evaluation metrics. The work described in this paper is an attempt to build a b...

Automated Ontology Creation using XML Schema Elements

Ontologies are commonly used to represent formal semantics in a computer system, usually capturing them in the form of concepts, relationships and axioms. Axioms convey asserted knowledge and support inferring new knowledge through logical reasoning. For complex systems, the process of creating ontologies manually can be tedious and error-prone. Many automated methods of knowledge discovery are...
